We’ve seen Data Protection Law Evolve
About Westbrook Data Protection Services Limited
We’re a specialist data protection consultancy founded by Clara Westbrook, a legally trained data protection specialist regulated by the SRA with over 25 years’ experience in commercial and data protection laws.
We first launched in Woking, Surrey in 2004. Since then we’ve seen data protection evolve from the 1998 Data Protection Act which first introduced individuals’ rights in relation to their data to what we know today as the GDPR and DPA 2018 which enhances those rights. These changes were brought about due to the technological advances taking place. Now with the advent of AI and Brexit this has once again changed to include the Data (Use & Access) Act which changes the way we think and handle data once more.
As these developments happen we’ve adapted to suit our clients’ needs and will continue to do so to give the best possible advice to our clients.
During our twenty-one year period we became a limited company (2015), completing our 10-year anniversary in 2025. As part of these celebrations we launched our first online data protection training course through our sister website Westbrook Data Protection Training (wdpt.co.uk).
Our first course ‘Data Protection Essentials’ is designed for individuals and organisations alike and teaches viewers about the fundamentals of handling data, their rights and who to complain to when things go wrong. This course also comes complete with a downloadable certificate, so you can stay in compliance with the law.
As we continue to scale our operations and refine our expertise, we are proud to announce that in 2026, we reached a new level of professional standing. By registering Westbrook Data Protection Services Limited ®, we’ve solidified our identity as a trusted leader in the data privacy space, ensuring our clients work with a brand that stands for integrity and protection. How Westbrook Data Protection Services works
We work closely with organisations to provide practical, proportionate data protection support that fits their organisational reality. Our focus is on helping clients make defensible decisions, manage risk, and deal with issues as they arise — not on producing generic documentation or theoretical advice.
What we do
We’ve worked with organisations in many industries and sizes, tailoring our advice to each business, helping them to complete audits, privacy policies, data sharing agreements and staff training to name a few.
In addition, we offer fast and reliable legal document signing and certification in Woking. So whether you’re looking for Data Protection Officer support or need help responding to a data breach or Data Subject Access Requests, we’re here to help.
Who we support
We are based in Woking, Surrey and support organisations across Weybridge, Guildford and the wider Surrey area, including clients across the UK.
Why organisations choose us
Data protection law is complex, fast moving and closely linked to risk, reputation and trust. Organisations choose us because we offer professional legal advice in clear plain English that’s aligned to your business needs.
Scope and limitations
We provide data protection and privacy compliance advice. Where an issue falls outside data protection law (for example, employment litigation or regulatory enforcement outside the ICO’s remit), we will tell you clearly and where appropriate, suggest alternative routes.
