Legal helpline terms and conditions

The WDPS Legal Helpline offers access to qualified data protection legal professionals for guidance on a wide range of data protection issues and is available to members of WDPS, who have paid their membership fee and received confirmation of membership from WDPS. If you are unsure whether your membership is up to date please contact us before using the service.
Advice is only available on the matters relating to the running of your business or issues related to your own employment. The Legal helpline is not able to give advice to members’ friends or clients. If you are a consultant or professional advisors, we do not give advice for you to pass on to your clients.
Helpline advice is provided by telephone only and is limited to a maximum of 20 minutes per call. Calls may be subject to standard network call charges.
Advice is given by legal advisers with experience of the subject in question. The Legal helpline does not give advice on litigation, tax and pensions.
If you do not agree with these terms and conditions, please refrain from using the legal helpline service.
Paperwork
Documents (including letters and other written communications) cannot be considered or drafted.
Fees
One-off £29 joining fee is non-refundable in the event that you cancel.
If you exercise your right to cancel the monthly service, such cancellation will take effect on the first working day of the following month and no refunds will be given if for example, you cancel 15 days into the month.
Subscription and call limits
- Annual subscribers are entitled to 2 x 20-minute calls each per month (maximum of 24 calls per year).
- Monthly subscribers are entitled to 2 x 20-minute calls each per month (maximum of 24 calls per year).
- Calls do not carry over between months. You have a maximum of 2 calls a month unless otherwise specified.
- Advice is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, excluding UK public holidays.
Our Guarantee
If you experience a data breach within six months of receiving advice through the WDPS Legal Helpline relating to that matter:
• We will support you in resolving the issue at 50% of our normal consultancy rate.
• This offer applies only where the advice sought and given was directly related to the matter in question.
• Please refer to our Rates Page for applicable charges.
Preferential Pricing
Subscribers benefit from preferential rates on all additional WDPS services:
- Monthly subscribers receive a 20% discount
- Annual subscribers receive a 20% discount
Discounts apply to all eligible services offered by WDPS, excluding external disbursements or third-party costs.
Limitations
- The helpline is advisory in nature. It does not constitute ongoing legal representation or engagement.
- WDPS accepts no liability for business loss, indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of this service.
- We reserve the right to limit or terminate access to the helpline for misuse or abuse of the service.

We may update these terms and conditions from time to time. The most recent version will always be available at wdps.co.uk/termsofuse.
